Reclaimed roughsawn old growth wood bench with mid century modern hairpin legs.
Whale bench because something of the sea has taken root.
Island barn because the old barns of Puget Sound are where much of our wood comes from.

PLANK
Douglas fir plank smoothed for function while preserving the roughsawn texture and deepened wood tone from years doing work just out of the elements, rain and salt air, brief intermissions of sun. Traces of the sawmill blade and patina intact. Benchtop is sealed with teak oil.
HAIRPIN LEGS
Hairpin legs are cold rolled steel rod with plate steel bases and anchor to the benchtop with three screws. Preserved with clear matte enamel.

Wood varies with each piece. But there is a commonality of tone and figure and patina. Smoother surface shown in photo 1. Rougher surface shown in photos 2 thru 5. Let me know your preference.
